NASHVILLE – March 19, 2009
– Warner Bros. Records Artist John Rich, one-half of multi-platinum
duo Big & Rich, will release his highly anticipated solo album,
Son Of A Preacher Man On Tuesday, March 24. The first single
off the album, “Shuttin’ Detroit Down,” has already made an impact
at radio in a little over six weeks as it currently sits at No. 13 on
the Radio & Records Chart and No. 12 on Country Aircheck
Singles Chart. The buzz now gets even greater as the video for the single,
“Shuttin’ Detroit Down” will star Mickey Rourke and
Kris Kristofferson.
The video for “Shuttin’
Detroit Down” was shot over two days in West Nashville. Rich met Rourke
in a New York City bar about two years ago and have stayed in touch.
Rich thought Rourke would be a perfect fit for the video and asked Rourke
to participate. Rourke flew into Nashville from Moscow the day before
and Kristofferson, who Rich also asked to participate in the video,
flew in from Los Angeles.
“I cannot think of two guys
who have pulled themselves up by the boot straps time and time again,
blue collar level superstars than Mickey Rourke and Kris Kristofferson,”
says Rich. “Two of the all time great American artists in what they
do, and the faces that these guys have, they have faces that tell a
story. It is a humbling experience working with these guys. I am way
out of my league.”
In support of Son Of A Preacher
Man, Rich will appear on ABC’s “Good Morning America” and
Fox News’ “Hannity’s America” on March 24, Fox News’ “Glenn
Beck” on March 25, NBC’s “Today Show” and “Late Night With
Jimmy Fallon” on March 26 and Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom”
with Megyn Kelly on March 27. Rich will also participate in a satellite
media tour on March 25. Check local listings for times.
Most recently known as one-half
of the multi-platinum Warner Bros. Records duo, Big & Rich, Rich
has been honing his writing skills for years. He has made a name for
himself as an artist in his own right, a producer, an award-winning
songwriter, and host of the smash hit series Gone Country on
CMT. As a part of Big & Rich and as a songwriter, he has garnered
multiple Grammy, ACM, CMA and CMT Music Award nominations. He was also
